At today’s High Mass, the regular liturgical music is replaced by Missa Brevis in D major (K. 194) by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, performed in a version for four soloists and organ.
Missa Brevis in D major was composed in 1774 as a commissioned work by the Archbishop of Salzburg, who wished to use the music for liturgical purposes in the cathedral. The Archbishop requested a somewhat restrained composition, and thus Mozart kept the piece relatively concise and strict. The work was published in 1793, a few years after his death, and was the first of his compositions to be printed publicly.
Performers:
Ellinor Olmarken, soprano
Ebba Lejonclou, mezzo-soprano
Sebastian Johansson, tenor
Tobias Wärja, bass
Johannes Andrée, organ
Free admission! Warmly welcome!
